Work in progress. In spring 2020 a state of emergency was announced in Finland because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Strong restrictions apply, and the Uusimaa region was cut off from the rest of the country for a couple of weeks. While gyms, swimming halls and other sports facilities are closed and gatherings restricted, people spend more time outdoors in their own district, mostly following guidlines for social distancing. These pictures are made in my neck of the woods in Helsinki, during my daily walks as I am navigating the paths and negotiating the thickets – while the spring is progressing.
